Carpal Tunnel Treatment, Hudson WI
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is considered to be a Repetitive Stress Injury. This category of injuries is caused by repetitive motion, such as typing cleaning, or assembly line work. According to the American Chiropractic Association, CTS most often occurs in adults, with women 3 times more likely to develop the syndrome than men.CTS is a problem of the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand. CTS occurs when the median nerve gets compressed in the carpal tunnel, a narrow tunnel in the wrist, made up of bones and soft tissues. A good majority of patients with Carpal Tunnel also have impingement, subluxation of the spin in the upper dorsal spine, causing back or neck pain in the lower part of the neck.
Patients may notice numbness in hands and fingers, or even weakness in the hands. Chiropractic adjustments will help relieve pressure off of those nerves in the neck and back and will correct the discomfort in the hands.
CTS can occur due to many different factors such as:
• acute injury
• hypothyroidism
• diabetes
• inflammatory arthritis
• ergonomic challenges
• repeated motion and stress to the wrist
• fluid retention
